Game Day Smoked Buffalo Chicken Dip
August 18, 2025
As the heat of summer winds down and football season kicks off, there’s no better crowd-pleaser than Game Day Smoked Buffalo Chicken Dip. Bold flavor, smoky depth, and creamy texture combine to create the perfect dish for tailgates, backyard watch parties, or late-summer cookouts. It’s hearty enough to serve on its own with chips or bread, yet simple enough to prepare alongside your other game day favorites.
The best part? You don't need a professional pit setup to get that signature smoke flavor. A gas grill fitted with a smoker tray or basket will infuse the dip with just the right amount of wood-fired character. For even more versatility, the Hybrid Grill Series from American Made Grills delivers unmatched flexibility, allowing you to cook with charcoal, wood, or gas simultaneously. That means your dip can carry a custom balance of flavors to match your lineup of dishes.
Easy to prepare ahead of kickoff, this dip holds beautifully on the grill, letting the smoky notes develop while you focus on the game. Rich cheese, shredded chicken, and hot sauce combine to create a bubbling, golden appetizer that keeps fans gathered around the table long after the first quarter.

- 1 Tablespoon of Homemade Vegetable Seasoning (below)
Toppings
- 4 ounces blue cheese crumbles
- 1 Tablespoon red onion, minced
- 1 Tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves, roughly chopped
Homemade Vegetable Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon coarse Kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ¼ teaspoon dried dill
- ¼ teaspoon ground mustard powder
- ¼ teaspoon celery seeds
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
Game Day Smoked Buffalo Chicken Dip Directions
- Preheat the smoker. Preheat your smoker (or oven) to 350 degrees F.
- Make the cheese mixture. Combine the cream cheese, sour cream, pepper jack cheese, and Veggie Shake in a medium mixing bowl. Stir with a spoon until everything is incorporated. Use the spoon to spread the cream cheese mixture into the bottom of a 9 or 12-inch cast-iron skillet.
- Make the Buffalo chicken. In a separate bowl, combine the shredded smoked chicken and Buffalo sauce. Pour this over the cream cheese mixture in the skillet and spread evenly. Sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese on top of the Buffalo chicken mixture.
- Smoke the Buffalo chicken dip. Place the dip in the preheated smoker or oven and close the lid. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling around the edges and the blue cheese has melted.
- Add toppings and serve immediately. Sprinkle the dip with minced red onion and chopped cilantro. Serve straight from the cast-iron skillet to keep the dip warm. This dip is delicious with celery sticks, tortilla chips, thin-sliced baguettes, or crackers. Enjoy!
Homemade Vegetable Seasoning
- Make the seasoning. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. If you prefer a little heat, add crushed red pepper flakes.
- Use and store. Use immediately or store in an airtight container for up to two months. Use to season vegetables, chicken, or fish before grilling.
